Maunsell Aecom - 450 Staff Portraits

49

Finished a really interesting job for Maunsell Aecom through Beehive Marketing. The client is a very corporate firm of engineers who have a global scope of projects, so I was imagining it to be a difficult task, especially as I was asked to capture both pleasant passport type and big smiling headshots of 450 of their staff in 3 locations in a combination of white, mid gray and black backgrounds, and shoot tethered so the client s could approve the shots on the fly. Technically it was challenging, in fact, I was a bit scared.

I couldn’t change the exposure or settings much once the client was happy with the setup, as the skin tones needed to be even across all the images, so we flashed the white background to get it extra white, and then tweaked the developing settings to get the images consistent across the 3 very different rooms I had to work in.

The interesting part came from the people themselves, who were great, and the antics attempting to get 450 different personalities to give up a smile amongst the camera and lighting. Some people came in beaming, snap-snap, and left after a minute still smiling and on with their day, whereas other took a little more convincing. I had to be on my toes the whole time so as to not let any fleeting grins disappear.  The clients where so happy with the smiling photos in the end they decided to use them for the intranet and ID cards also, cool.

A sample of the images.

Its like a work of art with the contrast of background colors and what/who the people look like and clothes!

    Great work Josh!
